Drawing heads are hard, at that place are many views that you need to tackle. People normally start learning to draw the forepart view first, so to side or 3/four views. In this post, I volition be showing y'all how you tin ready guidelines to draw an anime-styled head in the side view. I will talk briefly on how you tin can change up the proportions to draw an anime head that is a lot cuter, in chibi style.

Anime Head Side View Guideline Construction Procedure
Let's go direct into it! Please note that this is merely how I create guidelines for my drawings. Different artists will have different ways in which they construct their guidelines, some tin can merely Freehand everything!
Beginning, as usual, depict a circle. Next, draw a vertical line downward the left or correct side of the circle, this is where the head will be facing. Now, decide where you want the bottom of the chin to be for your head. If you're drawing a more mature caput, the chin will exist longer; if you're cartoon a younger person, the chin should be shorter. in this example, I'm drawing a immature female, so the chin is pretty brusque.
Side by side, draw a horizontal line in the centre of the head (betwixt the elevation of the head and the bottom of the chin. This line is where the top of the centre will be
Describe some other horizontal line between the top of the optics and bottom of the mentum, this guideline is for the bottom of the nose.
Draw a horizontal line slightly into the face from the vertical line, this line should cut beyond the lesser line for the chin and the eyes. Add a slight inwards curve around where the eye is. The intersection between the guideline for the bottom of the mentum and the vertical line will be where the tip of the chin touches.
Where the top of the eyes is, draw a slight dip inwards the head.
From the lesser of the chin, depict a line angled outwards roughly as shown in the prototype beneath. Use the guideline to add in the olfactory organ. Connect the bottom of the dip to the tip of the nose. The tip of the olfactory organ is touching the guideline. The bottom of the nose is touching the guideline for the bottom of the nose. The nose shape and the angle for the guideline can vary depending on age, gender, your preference etc.
Add another horizontal line betwixt the bottom of the nose and chin, this is the guideline for where to place the mouth. The rima oris should be slightly above this guideline. When calculation in the mouth shape, make sure that simply the tip of the pinnacle and bottom lips bear upon the angled guideline.
From the bottom of the rima oris to the mentum, there'southward a slight inward curve.
Now you have a basic shape for the head! Time to get-go refining and adding in details.
Add together in the middle, the top of the eye should be around the guideline we made earlier for the middle of the head.
Draw another vertical line down the center of the circle, this will be the guideline for placing the ear. The ear is roughly between the eyebrows and bottom of the olfactory organ.
Finally, add together in the hair and neck, you've drawn a side view of an anime head! Notation that hair has volume. I've put some space between the hair and the caput. For the neck, it doesn't become vertically direct down, it is angled.
Don't forget to erase overlapping lines! I've also angled the chin alittle more.
Chibi Style Side View Caput Guidelines
For cute chibi styled heads, the area below the eyes will be a lot shorter and the features volition be a lot rounder, thus cuter. The eyes should as well exist bigger besides.
